Evaluation 1

Obsession-Links to the film because it is the main part of the plot. The Obsession title was put at the end of the opening sequence as it sums up the film.

Setting/Location-We chose the park because it would make the dark scenes that more scarier for the audience.

Costumes and Props-The main victim wore a white t-shirt. We chose this to show vulnerability and innocence. The bruising, smudged make up and duck tape were used to show how serious the scenes are and making the audience feel worried and concerned for the victim. The candle was used to show the scene will get much worse after it is blowout.

Title, font and style-The colour was white and black so it was most clearest to see. We used all capitals for the title to link to the thriller genre because it makes the audience feel as like the word is being shout.

Story and how it's sets up the opening-It shows what has happened to the victim so far in the story. as it leaves the audience wanting to know more about the situation like "Whats going to happen"? and "Who is doing this"? which is answered later in the film.

Genre and how the opening suggests-By using close up shots of the victim showing the audience that she is in danger. One of the camera overlays makes the audience feel like the protagonist is being stalked by an unknown character.

How are the characters introduced- The main character is introduced walking with another character in a park. This is a very important part as it shows the contrast between the happy scenes and the kidnap scenes.
The antagonist is never shown fully only his outline is ever seen and his hand pining up a number of pictures on his shrine. This sets the tone for the character as dark mysterious figure who has a dark obsession with main character.

Special effects- The effects used were mostly overlays like the camera effect. These effects were used to make scenes darker and to have hidden meaning like the scene with the tree which has the overlay on to make it look like someone is watching them.

Evaluation 1 Idents

Research:
Our group started with a basic concept which was to create two ident logos which capture the feeling of the thriller genre. With that in mind we started to research other thriller movie idents, eventually we found a couple that we thought would be good inspiration like Legendary logo which was complicated shape that almost looked like maze.

Creating the idents:
We finally came up with two logos one was in the shape of mountain. Introducing the line on our ident made it look more effective. We chose the name Uncertain Productions because it links to the thriller genre. It has an element of mystery in the title. The head and cog ident was inspired by the name of the company Psychological Studios because it has something to do with the mind.

Editing Progress

This shot was too dark for the scene to clear enough see what was going on so we used balance colour to make the footage bright and more easy to see.

This is when we added an transition to a couple of scenes that need transitions. Most transitions were fades or blurs from shot to another. We did this because the footage would have jump cut to another scene and would have looked out of place.
We also added a 16.9 aspect ratio bar to our footage in order to make it look better to the audience.

This shot was a lot brighter than we wanted it to be so this shot was edited to make it look darker and have the audience focus on the shrine more than the person in the shot. Another reason we darkened the scene was the actor was too white and looked like a vampire from twilight so we needed to darken the scene to make me look less spooky and to focus on the shrine.
In this scene we started to add titles which would fade in and out of shots. We positioned them to be out of the way of the main shots and the tiles were always off to the side of most shots so that they don't distract the audience from the film.

We added the sound/music which is Last Of Us main theme by Gustavo Santaolalla.
This is the main music in our complete video along with low humming sound to cover the silent parts of the song. We added this music because it had a slow moment in the music for the slow walking scenes and it had a couple fast moments when the music would add tension to the hostage scene. It also fit the thriller theme as the music is used the game The Last Of Us which is a zombie survival game which most zombie game are thriller based which suggests that it would be perfect for a thriller based movie.

The process of the idents creation

Programs used:
Adobe After Effect
Adobe Photoshop

The first step I took was to get an head png and turn it white using Photoshop.
This is the head on Photoshop being edited.

The next step I did was to get a cog png and make it white just like the head.
Black background has been added so that it is visible.

I then created the mountain line by drawing it on Photoshop.

Black background has been added so that it can be seen.

I created a new project on Adobe After Effects and made it roughly 22 seconds long in order to have more workspace should I need to edit anything. I then placed my images onto the timeline and moved them into the correct order and place.

I then added the text Psycho to the left of the head and the logical text to the right and final text pictures to the bottom of the head.

I then selected the cog and told it to turn anti clockwise at slow speed.

I also timed the text to fade in at the 7/8seconds mark and to fade off within 3/4 seconds of them being on screen including the head and the cog.

I then added Uncertain Productions under the draw mountain.

I then went and started to draw a masking effect to the mountain so that it looked like it was being draw by someone. then I set it up so that it would slowly fade in and create the elusion that is was being draw. The same effect was set up for the text as well and was timed to go off at the same time and end at the same time and fade to black.
